Cool, but tail-fin troubledMay 11, 2008
By Todd Migchelbrink We have two of these (each kid had to have his own). The toy is a good playable size and made of die-cast metal. That's good! However, on both toys I purchased, the upright tail fins came off in the first hour of play. I tried a couple times to glue them back on but the pieces are small and don't have much of a groove on the car to reattach them.
So, if you're looking for a toy to make your kid happy, go with it. If you are looking for a durable collectors' item then you might want to be careful about the fins!

A great collectible for Speed Racer fansAug 28, 2008
By BigFan Well, I'm an adult who has kept a japanese 1:64 (Hot wheels size) Mach 5 on my computer table for years, but when the Wachowski Brothers film came out, I suddenly got the buzz and looked around for a new Mach 5, just because they were showing up everywhere.
Well, the company that has the original design Mach 5 license is Jada Toys, and they have a GREAT line of toys. Some are large, some are small, some are plasic and some are Die-cast, but they all look great. Of the ones I bought, though, the 1:32 Die-Cast Mach 5 is probably my favorite. I don't use it for anything, I just look at it. It fits completely in the palm of your hand. It has no moving parts, aside from the wheels, but it is just beautiful to look at, and the metal construction makes it feel good in your hand. I defy you to hold this model and not hear the Speed Racer Theme in your head. It's like owning a piece of the classic series. Beautifully constructed, hefty metal construction, I hope to pass this one on to my kids in time.
